Kitchens are the liveliest room in the house. They're the spot where food is made and shared, where guests gather, and where kids do homework after school. But with all that activity, kitchens can get cluttered in a hurry. The following are a few organization tips to help keep clutter from taking over the kitchen countertops completely.

Hide Appliances

Most kitchen countertops are lined with appliances that rarely get used. Waffle makers, juicers, convection ovens, and espresso machines are just a few examples of small appliances that are easy to acquire but tend to collect dust most of the time. For the appliances that really don't get used more than once a year or so, consider moving them into the attic or garage. If something really needs to stay in the kitchen, stash it on a high shelf, or consider building a special appliance shelf wherever there is some free wall space.

Add Extra Shelves On Sides Of Cabinets

When homeowners have high-quality kitchen features like marble countertops, it's a shame to hide them under a lot of clutter. That's why every kitchen can use an extra shelf or two. Finding space for shelves can be a challenge, though. One strategy is to install shelves on the sides of end cabinets. Small shelves can be handy for storing spices, canned goods, and dishwashing supplies, for example. Some pantries are also built with enough space to install shelves on the inside of the door.

Use Hooks Under Cabinets

Hooks are cheap to buy and easy to install, especially if they are the adhesive type, and they're very useful for adding extra storage in the kitchen. Hooks underneath a cabinet can hold coffee mugs, measuring cups, or measuring spoons, to name a few examples. Hooks attached to a wall can hold pots and pans, freeing up space inside cabinets and drawers. Hooks also work well on the inside of a cabinet or pantry door.

Use Drawer Organizers

Without an organizing tray, any drawer can turn into a junk drawer. However, silverware trays, drawer dividers, and even individual containers can all be used to keep like items together inside a drawer. When drawers are well-organized, it's easier to find and use the items they hold.

Using these and other organizing strategies can make the kitchen a more welcoming place. Keeping a kitchen clutter-free also increases its value because it allows potential buyers to see and appreciate features like beautiful quartz countertops and well-designed cabinetry.
